Studio story

Alpine Cloud Studio grew out of a shared bench in Kampung Baru where Nora Halim and Wei Chen altered wedding baju and office shirts between market runs. Clients kept asking for new garments instead of fixes, so they moved upstairs on River Road with two industrial machines and a mirror wall salvaged from a closed hotel.

The name references morning mist over the Klang River seen from their first window—not alpine mountains, but the same quiet lift before the city heats. They chose "cloud" for the soft roll of steam from irons and the light linen they favour in humid months.

Today the studio employs three cutters and one apprentice focused on pattern drafting. Fittings stay limited to four per day so nobody waits on a plastic chair for an hour. Nora handles dresses and blouses; Wei handles trousers and jackets; both sign off on final press before pickup.

Community ties remain: leftover fabric strips go to a neighbourhood craft circle, and hems for school uniforms are done at cost one weekend per month when announced on the contact page. The studio does not chase fashion-week timelines; it chases garments you reach for every week.
